Yes, I completely agree.Ken wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 10:21 pmIt is a big planet of 7.9 BILLION people.Grace wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 10:06 pmWhat a surprise, Ken and I actually agree on something.
I remember as a very young person that Henrey Kissinger was the supposed Anti-Christ. Before that it was JFK. And of course we can't forget Mikhail Gorbachev, after all he had a mysterious red mark on his forehead (it was a birthmark). Pope John Paul II and Ronald Reagan were deemed the anti-Christ. Some even thought Barney the Dinosaur was the anti-Christ because “cute purple dinosaur” in ancient Latin characters, it is “CVTE PVRPLE DINOSAVR.”. They extracted the Roman numbers, added all the numerals together and the result was 666.
In 1988 Some guy did a bunch of math equations and came up with the claim that the rapture would take place in 1988. He even wrote a book, "88 reasons Christ will return in 1988".
Interesting how they usually seem to be Americans (or American TV characters). And never some random dictator in Pakistan or Libya or someplace closer to the Holy Land. Which suggests an obvious bias on the part of the American authors who are coming up with this stuff.
Is Donald Trump the Antichrist?

I agree with this much but definitely not DJT fitting the position. I remember people thinking it was Obama. I like Grace, remember the accusation it might be Henry Kissinger.MattY wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 9:58 pmThere is a motif found through various books of Scripture, especially prophecy, of a powerful opponent of God (a human ruler, distinct from Satan) who will arise in the last days. Sometimes it's read into too many passages, but the motif is definitely found in Daniel, Revelation, and 2nd Thessalonians, in addition to 1st and 2nd John. So it's more than just the verses that directly mention "Antichrist", that's just a term that John used. But opinions on how to interpret the motif vary.
We have to be careful, lest we be poor witnesses of truth.
There will be THE Antichrist among antichrists but it sure is isn't DJT.

A powerful ruler who opposed God describes about every last evil dictator or military leader the world has seen in the past 2000 years: Attila the Hun, Genghis Kahn, Pol Pot, Stalin, Ivan the Terrible, Jefferson Davis, etc.MattY wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 9:58 pmThere is a motif found through various books of Scripture, especially prophecy, of a powerful opponent of God (a human ruler, distinct from Satan) who will arise in the last days. The only reason to call any of them an Antichrist is if you think we are in the last days. And there is nothing about the current moment that is much different from any other time in human history. Remember the Bible is a global book not something US-Centric. So we shouldn't get all caught up in what is going on here in the US, which only represents 4% of the world's population.

I listened to about 3/4 of the video and found many aspects of Trump true. He is a narcissist, braggy, big mouthed, uncouth, unpredictable and loves gaudy gold decor. But the proclamation that Trump would win the 2020 election and would take the nation to war, did not age very well. The most ridiculous was the proclamation that Trump would rebuild the temple, sit in it and put his name on it. Also saying that the "T" in the name Trump signifies the defying of the cross of Christ, was a real stretch.

What is an antichrist? What is The Antichrist? How can we know?

Is it biblical? Is it Christlike? Is it loving? Is it true? How can I find out?

The anti-christ in the first century was an indicator of it being...not the last days, or the last time, but the last hour! Get it? It's a done deal! Maybe y'all are still waiting for the last minute or the last second 2000 years later?

George is indeed preterist.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 3:20 pm Preterism? I have not heard that one since grad. School. Are you serious or sending me off?
And a lot of preterist thought is more recent than you might think. Check out Google Scholar and Amazon for examples.
I think some prophecies have been fulfilled and others have not been. And that some prophecies can be fulfilled more than once - there are many antichrists, not just one. That's one reason that the Revelation has been relevant to many generations of suffering Christians. And I think a lot remains shrouded in the Revelation ...
