Re: Poll: 2024 Presidential Election
Interesting. New poll just out.
RFK Jr.'s decision to abandon the Democratic primary and run as an independent looks to hurt Trump and tilt the playing field substantially in favor of Biden. https://maristpoll.marist.edu/polls/the ... l-contest/
Biden has a 3 point lead without Kennedy in the race. That raises to 7 points with Kennedy on the ballot as an independent.

You all can change your votes in the poll if you like.

Re: Poll: 2024 Presidential Election
Interesting - a New York Times poll released yesterday has Trump ahead on average 48% to 44% in five of the six swing states. This would result in a solid victory (for real this time ) if the poll numbers would hold. His growth among black and Hispanic voters is notable, as is the fact that over 70% of respondents felt he was "too old" for the job (as opposed to less than 40% for Trump). Trump's strongest advantage was in the area of "handling the economy."

Maybe you can persuade your new boss, the House Speaker, to really push to get another nominee besides Trump!Dan Z wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:24 am Interesting - a New York Times poll released yesterday has Trump ahead on average 48% to 44% in five of the six swing states. - Arab support dropped from 60% to 17% for Biden.
- Whilst being unappetising to wealthy upper-class voters, demographics that are incarcerated at a much higher rate than wealthy upper class whites are a lot more sympathetic to seeing someone being railroaded by “the system”. Trump is pulling better with black American voters (particularly black men) since the 1950s.

Why don't primary presidential candidates run as a team? ______________ for President / ____________ for Vice-president
Why wouldn't this be attractive to voters?

Re: Poll: 2024 Presidential Election
Way back in the day the person who took second in the election became vice president.
Today they run as a ticket but the tickets are usually formed during the nominating convention. Sometimes a leading candidate will make a VP pick before the convention if they are way ahead. But the idea is actually for the party to pick the nominees and that is what the conventions used to be for.
Why don't you see tickets being formed this early in the nominating process? My guess is that no one of stature wants to sign onto a losing candidate and go through all the effort of campaigning for VP on the ticket of a presidential candidate who isn't going anywhere. VP candidates of high stature (as they should be since they are first in line for the presidency) aren't likely to agree to be on a ticket until they are sure of who the nominee is.

Also, often the VP candidate ends up being an opponent that didn't win the primary, No presidential candidate wants to signal that they're really running for VP instead of President.Ken wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 12:29 pm Why don't you see tickets being formed this early in the nominating process?
