So the Democrats found Republicans who were willing to participate, but that meant that the Republicans didn't have as much influence as they normally would. Their brinkmanship backfired. I don't know how the Democrats could have done better, though, given the circumstances.
Who was investigating them? Were they being criminally investigated?
The January 6th committee was investigating Jordan. Banks had said he had no intention of cooperating with the investigation and wanted to disrupt it. The report itself describes this, but it was also widely reported as the commission was being set up initially.
How could the Jan 6 committee be investigating Jordan at the time he was appointed if the committee was still in the process of forming?

The federal judge overseeing former President Donald J. Trump’s prosecution on charges of illegally retaining dozens of classified documents set a trial date on Friday for May 2024, taking a middle position between the government’s request to go to trial in December and Mr. Trump’s desire to push the proceeding until after the 2024 election.
So this could get interesting. If Trump does win the Republican primary (the convention is in July 2024), he could be running for President while simultaneously on trial.

That is just one out of the many trials he is facing.
  • The Stormy Daniels felony trial for illegally hiding and writing off payments to his porn star mistress is scheduled to begin March 25, 2024.
  • He is facing another civil trial for defamation in the E Jean Carroll case for which a trial date hasn't been set
  • He is facing state indictment and trial in the elections tampering case in Fulton County Georgia for which an indictment has not yet happened but may be imminent
  • He is facing another Federal indictment in Washington DC by the Jack Smith special counsel over charges related to 1/6. Again, no indictment yet and so no trial date yet. But that will be in Washington DC rather than Florida.
All told there are a total of 23 pending legal cases civil and criminal against Trump or his many businesses so he is going to have a very busy 2024. It is quite the impressive one-man crime wave:

And this is part of the problem — the codependent relationship media and Trump have with each other.

The media needs to focus on Trump, in order to take the focus off Biden, as each day more corruption is being revealed involving Joe Biden and his crime family.

Marjorie Taylor Green showed pornographic posters of Hunter Biden in the House of Representatives.

So I guess you can say a whole lot was revealed, none of which is appropriate to repost here.

On July 27, Federal prosecutors filed additional charges against Trump for ordering his employees to delete surveillance video relevant to the documents case at Mar-a-Lago.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/07/27/us/p ... ticleShare
Federal prosecutors on Thursday added major accusations to an indictment charging former President Donald J. Trump with mishandling classified documents after he left office, presenting evidence that he told the property manager of Mar-a-Lago, his private club and residence in Florida, that he wanted security camera footage there to be deleted.

The new accusations were revealed in a superseding indictment that named the property manager, Carlos De Oliveira, as a new defendant in the case. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Miami on Monday.
Prosecutors under Mr. Smith had been investigating Mr. De Oliveira for months, concerned, among other things, by his communications with an information technology expert at Mar-a-Lago, Yuscil Taveras, who oversaw the surveillance camera footage at the property.

That footage was central to Mr. Smith’s investigation into whether Mr. Nauta, at Mr. Trump’s request, had moved boxes in and out of a storage room at Mar-a-Lago to avoid complying with a federal subpoena for all classified documents in the former president’s possession. Many of those movements were caught on the surveillance camera footage.

The revised indictment said that in late June of last year, shortly after the government demanded the surveillance footage as part of its inquiry, Mr. Trump called Mr. De Oliveira and they spoke for 24 minutes.

Two days later, the indictment said, Mr. Nauta and Mr. De Oliveira “went to the security guard booth where surveillance video is displayed on monitors, walked with a flashlight through the tunnel where the storage room was located, and observed and pointed out surveillance cameras.”

A few days after that, Mr. De Oliveira went to see Mr. Taveras, who is identified in the indictment as Trump Employee 4, and took him to a small room known as an “audio closet.” There, the indictment said, the two men had a conversation that was meant to “remain between the two of them.”

It was then that Mr. De Oliveira told Mr. Taveras that “‘the boss’ wanted the server deleted,” the indictment said, referring to the computer server holding the security footage.

Mr. Taveras objected and said he did not know how to delete the server and did not think he had the right to do so, the indictment said. At that point, the indictment said, Mr. De Oliveira insisted again that “the boss” wanted the server deleted, asking, “What are we going to do?”

Meanwhile some media companies focus on Biden to take the focus off Trump, as more corruption is being revealed about Trump and Co.
This is not anything new... It is something that has been going on for at least a century.

Meanwhile the chairman of China continues to prosecute government officials involved in corruption, while rewarding corrupt people who support his regime.

This is the world of politics. I believe God judges perversion of justice no matter where it is found.
