Christian Nationalism

Post by JimFoxvog »

I expect most Mennonites oppose "Christian Nationalism", as I do. To start a discussion here is an article a friend of mine sent me.
Christian nationalist and pro-Trump pastor insists 'believers' should 'be the ones writing the laws'

...

The MAGA minister then proclaimed — referring to Christian nationalists like himself — "We want God to be in control of everything! We want believers to be the ones writing the laws! Yes! Guilty as charged."

...
Although this article refers to this minister's pro-Trump stance, I'd prefer we talk more about the underlying concept of believers ruling rather than the former president.

i know nothing of folks described above.
i don’t know of any forum members who fit this description, no forum representatives, but they and their alleged beliefs are among the most discussed. (even tho talking about those not present is discouraged on forum.)

i don’t believe what “we want” has anything to do with authentic Christian faith. it’s common! it’s bedrock to secularists.
“what we want.”

(i see it) as part of the failure of MLK Jr’s leadership TO seek after government for leadership. (i hope) unintended consequences.
“Bidden or unbidden, God is present.”
― Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus

Negative or positive, DJT should not be living rent-free in believers’ minds. For believers, he’s “just a guy.”

Vocatus atque non vocatus, Deus aderit.
Called or uncalled, God is present.

This is actually a statement that Jung discovered among the Latin writings of Desiderius Erasmus, who declared the statement had been an ancient Spartan proverb. Jung popularized it, having it inscribed over the doorway of his house, and upon his tomb.

Variant translations:
Summoned or not summoned, God is present.
Invoked or not invoked, God is present
Called or not called, the god will be there.
Bidden or unbidden, God is present.
Bidden or not bidden, God is present.
Bidden or not, God is present.
Bidden or not bidden, God is there.
Called or uncalled, God is there.
i glanced at the OP article. meh.
obtuse SJW looking for his 15 minutes ..

Should we desire unbelievers to be writing laws?

I know the OP only requested not discussing Trump, but that doesn't mean it's okay to make the thread about Bidden.

Yes, and we should pray that they write good laws.

The thing about Christians writing laws is, attempt will be made to represent all, including non-Christians, including the least of these. Unbelievers have no such parameters or standards. Intolerance is logical, intolerance just makes sense in secularism.

Unbelievers are not tolerant of Christians, in varying levels, they’re afraid, thus, the cross.

We are already ruled by self-described Christians. Plus 7 of the 9 Supreme Court justices are Catholic, one is Protestant and one is Jewish.

If I understand that correctly:

- 11% of the Supreme Court is Jewish
- 8% of the Senate is Jewish
- 5½% of Congress is Jewish

What percentage are they of America as a whole?

Exactly like Sean Feucht, the subject of the article.
