The old woodcutter spoke again. “It is impossible to talk with you. You always draw conclusions. Life is so vast, yet you judge all of life with one page or one word. You see only a fragment. Unless you know the whole story, how can you judge?"

President Joe Biden’s border crisis has expanded to a war on two fronts as a nearly 850 percent increase in illegal alien encounters along one sector of the Canadian border has left Border Patrol seeking agents to voluntarily relocate. ..

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

From my perspective it looks like another example of how little things change after elections. Emigration is governed by economic, social and cultural realities that persist through political variance.
In general I sympathize with the quote from Sen. Menendez about the normalization of dehumanizing immigrants.

… are you sure? After the last election, illegal border crossings significantly increased.barnhart wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 7:41 am From my perspective it looks like another example of how little things change after elections. This is not a loving policy that follows Christian values. Not allowing asylum applications for those who have entered coming from Mexico is inhumane. Trump's policy was evil; this is not much better.

Why can't they apply for asylum in Mexico? It seems improper to break the law first, often paying lots of money to cartels and other people smuggling groups, and crossing on private property and spreading trash everywhere. That's not good for the environment nor ultimately good for the asylum seekers. Let things be done in an orderly fashion.

Many have found Mexico not to be a safe place for asylum seekers.Josh wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 1:01 pmWhy can't they apply for asylum in Mexico? Being able to apply for asylum at the border, safely and without delays, not being smuggled or crossing on private property, is the humane answer. Applicants should be able to stay in a safe place until the application is dealt with.

Yet is America somehow magically safe?JimFoxvog wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 1:19 pmMany have found Mexico not to be a safe place for asylum seekers.Josh wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 1:01 pmWhy can't they apply for asylum in Mexico? So which is it? On the one hand, we hear that America is a very dangerous place, particularly for non-white people - with non-white people fearful of being pulled over by police and being excused if they try to run from the police. America is portrayed as this horrible place full of racism.
On the other hand, apparently America is the only place that Guatemalans, Haitians, Hondurans, Salvadorans, and many others can be safe at all. Not in Mexico, not in their own countries. In fact the only way they can be safe is to... illegally cross the border into America?
Where does the truth lie?
