1) (Granted, this is a complaint that could be levied at a lot of Republicans.)

2) But some like DeSantis and "Haley" are particularly egregious. There's not really any "there" there.
1) i’m puzzled why you wouldn’t refer to something like, “career politicians” rather than Republicans?
lots ‘o Dems seem to hang with only billionaires .. :-| .. highly centralized gov could have that effect. Big Boys Only. :-|
regardless of quaint, folksy, or even hep, speech.

2) do you see them as worse than, for instance, Romney?

Bootstrap wrote: Thu Feb 16, 2023 5:58 pm When Dylan Roof shot people at a black church in South Carolina, she handled it very well. That's really the first time that she came to my attention. I think she has been strong on the position that she is the governor for all Americans who lived in her state.

She also seems intelligent and articulate. She has been willing to make some risky decisions, such as taking down the Confederate flag from the Capitol building in South Carolina, a Deep South state, because of its meaning to many black people who live in the state, especially after the Dylan Roof shooting.
She hasn’t impressed me so far with her start. If she is no different from Trump, why not vote for the real thing?
Well, I don't know her that well, and I'm not campaigning for anyone.

But here's what I think a wise Caesar would look like: a president who says there are two valid parties, focuses on the actual job that government is required to do, and works hard to pull people together to work in the same direction. A president who says that America has to be a place where all Americans can live in peace and safety, who says that demonizing each other is a problem. A president who is clearly against domestic violent extremism. A president who is transparent about his or her finances and considers dark money a problem.

To me, that's more important than specific policies. All of that used to be a very low bar. Most presidents in my lifetime checked most of those boxes. I would be extremely pleased if both parties give us candidates like that. I see some candidates that don't even come close.

Regardless, I do see that as Caesar's problem.

Two parties?

We have one party who “come together” for what they really care about: things like ignoring the rail workers’ unions and repealing rail safety rules, then downplaying when a million pounds of toxic chemicals splatter everywhere during a derailment thanks to getting rid of those rules.

Big business, big profits, and the ultra wealthy run American politics and in particular the GOP establishment and the Democratic political machine.

From what i gather, prominent “defects” from the DNC become 3rd party, or independents, before or if ever joining the RNC.

The DNC is proud of being an organized (cabal). i wouldn’t be.
For one obvious problem, prominent members leave when they realize there’s no future for them inside.
That’s a serious talent problem. The current geriatrics won’t live forever. Scriptures warn.

Present ancient DNC leaders heralding the trans future and gleeful poverty-for-green living, which their replacement troops are itching to run with, are not a pretty sight. Worse is promised.

People don’t leave long relationships over nothing. It’s uncomfortable and costly.
For each one that acts, how many want to?

LARRY ELDER

Larry Elder Explains His Presidential Candidacy | Larry Elder / 45min

A personal fav.
i thought he was Libertarian. Looks like Republican for this campaign.

Heads up:
The majority of headlines are billing him as a “failed California Gov contender.” They’re so predictable.
i’m happy to listen to him, first-person.

Well, he got 18% of the vote in the 2021 California recall election and he ran in that election as a Republican too. Is that a win?

I'm not paying much attention to the minor GOP candidates. Do you think Elder will even break 1%?
