i appreciate time stamps. (They almost make up for lack of transcripts.)

i enjoy JLP, most of all for his way of provoking thought about Christian faith (to everyone he encounters) along with his sincerity about addressing young black men about their important, unique God-created roles in earthly life, in their families, communities, churches. (First time i’ve learned about Pastor Burns.)

i’ve never heard pastors speak about DJT, one way or another (altho i’ve read “plenty” that some do!) not my experience. :P
JLP+guest cover various topics, not just about politics.

Personally, i’m ok with a second Trump term; if not, i’m unbothered, there are a number of great possibilities, all of whom have benefited from Trump’s first term, admit it or not. Most everyone did, admit it or not.

In my view, conservatives, not just the RNC, have a deep and diverse “bench,” i prefer they avoid in-fighting.
i realize msm media THRIVES on contest and scandal, i’m not delusional. not about their tactics or goals.

^^all things considered, interesting interview.

Remember the spirit of the OP: Good things. :blah:   you can do it!

Josh wrote: Sun Feb 05, 2023 12:03 am I feel like elections never end. The campaign starts years before the election, and then the election results are contested for months. Then right after that, a new campaign starts.
It’s not feelings, it’s fact.
I’m old enough to remember when elections meant something, there was an interim period between, before next elections were discussed. Even obama spoke to this not long after 2008, something to the problem of unending campaign cycles. He wasn’t the first.

It became official after 2016, when hills began stumping against DJT .. immediately following her “concession” .. she hasn’t stopped.

It’s unhealthy, and, evidently, unforeseen by the founders.
It’s aided by tech, msm, 24/7 blathering, career politicians, career activists, career lobbyists. Lots of paydays involved. $$$$
Everyone likes a regular paycheck. .. ..

Considering this reality, starting this topic in 2023 seems moderate.
msm chatter about 2024 began .. ?? .. in November 2020?? has anyone escaped the chatter?? it’s hard to imagine.

(in this case, i was asked to begin a new thread.) :)

Do you have any “good things” to add here?

There’s no urgency to this topic. None at all. It may go dormant, no problem.
Like all other threads.

That would have been great during his presidency, when we had an almost daily drumbeat of griping about him, mostly started by the same person, who shall remain nameless. :laugh
Grace,
Do you have a good thing to share on this topic?

Perhaps the OP was too complicated. This is the question:
^^Requesting the spirit of RZehr’s thread for this topic, regarding his 2024 campaign, AND, whatever follows.
He may resign, he may become ill or die, he may win or lose.

Regardless, come what may, what are specific things you like about Trump?
Specifically, to begin, about his current campaign, later, it can move on to whatever follows. i have zero predictions.

i really appreciated the way MOST posters in RZehr’s thread TRIED to respect his OP.
he didn’t expect it would be easy. it was difficult for some. but i believe effort was made.

i’m sure RZehr and mods did not intend to cause social unrest with their suggestion/request i begin a new topic.
and neither did i.

it’s just another topic. engage or ignore. 100% personal choice.

You want a good thing? I would say it is a good thing that Trump is planning to to stop textbook and curriculum censorship in places like Florida and plans to cut off Federal funding for states like Florida that engage in censorship in education.

Ken wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 11:15 am Trump does have some unfinished business in East Palestine
If you want to get specific, the particular regulation Trump repealed has nothing to do with what happened in East Palestine, although I strongly disagree with that decision. The repeal of extra rules for hazmat loads was an Obama-era thing (they put in place a temporary rule, made temporary under pressure from the rail lobby), and then the Biden administration failed to reinstate it.

Overall, every administration whether Bush, Obama, Trump, or Biden has kowtowed to the rail lobby in the direction of less safety, less reliability, less regulation, worse treatment of labour, and fatter and bigger profits. We need look no further than the recent rail workers' strike (or lack thereof) and forcing railroad workers back to work.

What were they going to strike for? (a) paid sick days - as in having any sick days at all, and (b) concerns about safety and inspections with pressure from management to cut safety and inspections short to stick to profit-driven schedules.

Sorry, but there's a pretty bipartisan consensus to blame here. If you want to see real change, look to people like J.D. Vance who are calling for real accountability. The railroad industry has gotten away with too much for too long.
