Article about knowing the names of Fallen Soldiers

Post by Ernie »

About a month or two ago, I read an article that was showing how that many citizens know the names of fallen soldiers in their own country but do not know the names or even care about the civilians who were killed by their country or its allies. It referenced Trump's long tribute to Carryn Owens in his address to congress as an example. As I remember, the author may have been a pacifist.

The old woodcutter spoke again. “It is impossible to talk with you. You always draw conclusions. Life is so vast, yet you judge all of life with one page or one word. You see only a fragment. Unless you know the whole story, how can you judge?"

Likely has a lot to do with the notion that soldiers laid their lives down for us.
It seems to me like a godless substitute for true, sacrificial love. It really is the idolatry of a nation.
