.. Smollett had been charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct in February after Chicago police said they had evidence that he had filed a false police report.

The grand jury indicted him with 16 counts of disorderly conduct.

He faces probation and up to four years in jail - for each count. ..

This seems fast.
i suppose sentencing will follow, then appeals? ..

Thankfully, i have little idea how courts work.
i have learned to leave plenty of room for pleas, appeals, etc.

often, reality turns out much differently than reports indicate.
from this, it appears, there will be consequences.

well, i’m glad i did not jump to conclusions.
as of yesterday, at least, here in Illinois, media is “a-flutter” over this case.
in this same month, Jussie has been released, his case dropped by the DA. wow.

It was reported with a lot of shock+awe yesterday. Time will tell.

i sort-of expect this to quickly die down and fade away. (fade from public view.)
Jussie may receive big money through some gov victim benefit account, he claims he was the victim. with the right legal words, victims profit! his career may not be damaged.

my surprise is that Chicago’s mayor and police superintendent have been as vocal as they have.
this is so unusual, some suspect it’s part of the act. i do not know. i can’t dismiss it.

i know lawyers learn courtroom theatrics, for sure; i believe Jussie is taking notes. $$$

i know hollywood is corrupt.
but, honestly. this is “extra.” he gets to return to work?! “no harm done??” really.

.. I know President Trump intends to have the FBI look into this, and I’m all for it, but what I don’t know is whether Foxx actually violated any laws with her actions, or if she was just guilty of absolutely awful performance as a state’s attorney.

And while everything I’ve seen so far says there’s no recourse to reverse her actions, I wonder if Jussie Smollett realizes this doesn’t get him close to off the hook in the eyes of the public.
Now he’s not just a hate-crime hoaxer, but a hate-crime hoaxer who skated on a crooked deal because he’s famous – all while remaining completely unrepentant and insulting everyone’s intelligence by continuing to insist on his innocence.

If Foxx and Smollett thought they could pull this off and escape unscathed because surely the SJWs and the Resistance would cheer them on as tribal companions, I think they seriously miscalculated.

So yesterday actor Jussie Smollett (who’s black and gay) was assaulted in Chicago by two men who shouted MAGA at him:

According to a police statement, the actor was walking near the Chicago River downtown around 2 a.m. Tuesday when he was approached by two men who shouted at him, struck him in the face and poured an “unknown substance” on him before one of them wrapped a rope around his neck.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that when officers first came in contact with Smollett, he still had a rope around his neck. While being interviewed by detectives, Guglielmi said Smollett told them that the attackers yelled he was in “MAGA country,” an apparent reference to the Trump campaign’s “Make America Great Again” slogan that some critics of the president have decried as racist and discriminatory.

It’s not just liberals that associate MAGA with racism. Racists apparently also associate MAGA as confirmation of their racism.

Nick was wrongly damned, Jussie was wrongly trusted.
Jussie didn’t have pics. still. the problem of jumping to (desired) conclusions.
