(i think) i’m grateful for a lot of gov response, esp to EMERGENCIES. Example: FEMA.
(i think) i’m even grateful for the post-Katrina approach of FEMA of sometimes being approved IN ADVANCE of impending disaster, like, hurricanes. This is new, still experimental.

i vaguely grasp the enormity of the huge AG LOBBIES, and existing laws and programs that subsidize farms, esp big farms, big agriculture. i believe similar must be true in Canada. i don’t know. Certainly, AG Lobbies are not the only big business lobbies deeply entrenched in law and the Public Treasury. (This topic is about AG/food distribution.) My sense is, after The Dust Bowl and The Great Depression, gov became entrenched in stabilizing both farms and food distribution. A LOT has been done.

My unease is due to knowing NOISY BULLYING political reps and groups have the goal of establishing permanent guaranteed incomes “for everyone,” “for always.” This pandemic is being used to push unwanted permanent changes in government under the guise of “emergency.”

It’s underhanded. It’s not a new tactic. Voters+citizens have submitted to it in the past. It’s become routine.
Example: How gov has changed, post 9-11-2001. Homeland Security, et al.

The EXPERIMENT of “Economic Stimulus” payments going to individual citizens - in temporary FEMA-modeled response - was an interesting, unique EXPERIMENT.

It may have been “the most democratic” gov effort i’ve experienced. That is, without socialist parsing to determine winners+losers, most legal citizens received a lump of cash. THE GOAL WAS TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY.

This appeals (to me) because of the relative simplicity, and, to repeat, the more purist democratic approach.
Not socialist, democratic.

The beauty in this is: gov is not so overtly playing god.
Money is disbursed, it’s up to individuals to determine how to spend it. INDIVIDUALS decide which goods+services they need/want. This prevents gov from deciding which businesses succeed, which fail. The market decides.
This prevents gov from keeping the unwanted/unsustainable on artificial life support.

It was not to be permanent. Like FEMA, emergency relief. Then, it’s over.

For those not in need: a great opportunity for charitable giving - of personal choice.
Again: Not gov playing god, abusing everyone’s tax dollars to determine winners+losers.

Not all funds were/are used wisely by the people.
AS-IF government does not waste taxpayer dollars??? They are the official professionals!!!

The present THIRD stimulus checks have been contested for 6+ months? Why??
Bipartisan Congressmen were reportedly agreed on the third check early-on. Not debated.

The debate has been about the far more vast expenditures to pet projects/socialist demands, holding the lesser, agreed funds HOSTAGE. The hostage was so valuable to the process of leveraging socialism, any mention of release of those funds as a stand-alone, which was theoretically possible, was not seriously considered.

It is absolutely sickening to witness.

My personal choice for POTUS is appleman. For several terms.

The founders screwed up when allowing Congressmen to serve unlimited terms.
They probably could not have imagined any staying in place for DECADES, either by their personal choice, or by vote.

This oversight has led to the present “1 party claiming to be 2” debacle.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.
