I myself do not care for the use of podcasts. For a variety of reasons I find them to be a distraction rather than a help. Modern media interferes with the quiet and reflective reading process.

For the most part I use the inductive approach to Bible study. For Catholic beginners who ask me how to do lectio divina (which is the prayerful reading of Scripture) I tell them to study the Scripture readings used at the Mass for that day. Inductive Bible study uses the lectio divina 3 method approach:
1) Read and observe: read the passage several times and note what it is actually saying.
2) Interpret what the passage is saying based upon the above observations.
3) Application: in what way does the meaning of this passage apply to me?
