How can Christians leaven the world; be the salt and the light for the Gospel?

Doing good deeds. Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Be patient with them. Encourage them. Listen to them. Pray with them. Love them.

I would say Discipleship is the answer. True Disciples of Jesus follow His example and will be a salt and light to the world. As Disciples of Christ mature, they will want to disciple/mentor others into a relationship with Jesus.

Discipleship is a way of life. It may include carrying tracts in your pocket to give out. It may include sharing your testimony to many strangers. It may include Gospel trips into the big cities around us to sing or preach. It may include being generous and hospitable to the poor and needy.

While it may not always be expressed in exacly the same way, I would say that Disciples will show their love of the Master by their lives. If you can't see them being salt and light, then they probably aren't. What's inside comes out. If Christ is our reason for life, it will be evident by the lives we live.
