Witnesses said the priests do pray for their persecutors. The priests hear one another's confessions when attack is imminent, knowing they may die. There is no armed guard at the rectories. The priests do not have a means of self-defense. Any attack is wrong whether in retaliation or simple persecution.

Yet right now, those nations where persecution is heaviest are also seeing the highest numbers in Mass attendance, percentage wise.
