I don't think 'helper' is necessarily subordinate, more 'one who comes along side' (to help). Could also be an 'advocate' in some cases.

We would hear that God created a help meet (or suitable) for man. I think this would support the idea of someone to come alongside, not necessarily subordinate.

I think the 'meet' has been misunderstood by a lot of people in our circles, maybe, HO.
