Wrong question!

Post by MaxPC »

“Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11) is a prayer for sufficiency. “Give us our bread as it is needful to us” (Pulpit Commentary). It is a check to our greed. “This is a rebuke to our immoderate and unbridled desire” (Alexander McClaren). Insatiable desire and unbridled consumption are virtues in a consumer society but not in the kingdom of God.

We often blame the problems of our world on God. We say, “Why does God let people go hungry?” Wrong question! We should ask, “Why do we let people go hungry?” Out of thanksgiving for your daily and sufficient bread, generously share with others and join with ministries that do.
