Conversion of celebrities

i don’t follow hollywood celebrities, or athletes that become celebrities, but, different reports appear now+then about these “larger than life” folks either consistently declaring their faith when they find themselves in the spotlight, or, as in this case, KANYE WEST, declaring his conversion.

i read, watch, pray they have authentic faith, and that they are effective in sharing Truth.

i really-truly know very little of KW’s life, other than a broad idea he was a self-indulgent sinner.
he has notoriety. thus, he could constructively affect many souls.

i do follow/read Herman Cain’s different ventures, here+there. :D
i find Mr Cain to be down-to-earth and practical. not a Rhodes Scholar, but honest and consistent.

link below, Herman Cain regarding Kanye West’s conversion:

(i dislike Jimmy Kimmel’s “work,” he is one reason i unplugged from TV in 2016.)
i may view this video. i haven’t, yet.

VIDEO: Kanye West's extraordinary proclamation of Jesus on the Jimmy Kimmel Show
https://hermancain.com/video-kanye-west ... henewvoice
Herman Cain:
Sometimes I think Christians need a kick in the pants in this respect:
We get so caught up in how bad things are in the world, and how thoroughly the world seems to be rebelling against God, we forget that God is capable of doing extraordinary things.

If I had told you a month ago that Jimmy Kimmel would have a guest who would unabashedly proclaim that Jesus is Lord, and go on about it length and with great enthusiasm, while Jimmy smiles and nods the whole time, you would have never believed this would be possible. If I had told you this would happen while the Jimmy Kimmel Show displayed a chryon that read “Jesus is King,” you would have told me I’d lost my mind.

All of this happened on Friday night. Why?
Because God chose one of the most unlikely people – but also one of the few people who could pull it off – to do it.

Into the morass that is our lost modern culture, God has sent Kanye West, and the impact is extraordinary: .. ..
Tim Tebow was discussed in at least one MD thread.
There is another athlete, Demario Davis, showing up in reports, his “Man of God” headband caused sensations; first, he was penalized, then, he turned the situation into an effective charity fundraiser.

This thread is meant to be general discussion about “those certain people” who find themselves-and-their-faith, in the public eye in ways most of us never will, and would likely prefer not to be there.

The Desire for Charismatic Leaders / Ernie
http://forum.mennonet.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2421

Ernie’s thread is about charisma in more formal church leadership, whereas these celebrity folks are not seeking that same designation. They are “stars” or athletes who choose to use their positions to spread the Gospel, sometimes accepting risks to do so, rather than to use (sometimes exploit) the Gospel to establish their careers.

But, i am thinking of Ernie’s thread as i read about Kanye West. :?
KW certainly has some description charisma, even tho it’s always been a mixed bag of words and actions. so much so, until now, i ignored KW as just another noisy celebrity, not of interest to me.

i now pray KW is experiencing authentic Christ-centered change.

I just listened to Kanye's gospel album the other night. Not much of a rap fan, but the message was right.

One of the more interesting things that Kanye West did was require that the people collaborating on his album not engage in fornication.

This was, apparently, not a requirement of Christian contemporary music artists back in the day, as evidenced by situations like Amy Grant having an affair with her producer, Jennifer Knapp coming out as gay and having a lesbian partner, and so on.

We truly live in interesting times.

He is also strongly speaking out against pornography.
Evidently, he is asking his wife to dress more modestly.

He has a history of being criticized, even hated, for many of his prior views/actions.
Maybe he’s decided, if he’s going to be hated, it might as well be for the things God values. 8-)

i pray his conversion is authentic, and he touches hearts.

Now he’s speaking against abortion. my, my.

”Kanye West denounces abortion in interview on new ‘Jesus is King’ album”

.. Kardashian and the couple’s children were just baptized into the
Armenian Apostolic Church.

The baptisms took place inside Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in Vagharshapat, Armenia,
one of the oldest churches in the world. ..

The Armenian AC is similar to Eastern Orthodox but had a split in the 300s. They survived to the present day. In their view they are the continued true church.

It will be very interesting to see how Kanye West continues to develop and express his beliefs.

i’ve never given KW a thought before recently. not a thought. not him, his wife-family, their crazy world.

after reading this blurb on the Armenian AC church, seeing Kim K in a covering, which i first presumed was for theatrics, i wondered where KW was baptized, and, where do they attend church? in a quick search, i found nothing, maybe others know.

but the whole thing is interesting. i wonder if he knows anything about Anabaptists?
before reading about their choice of the Armenian church, i would have presumed not.

it really is “something” that he is speaking out, specifically naming fornication, pornography, modest dress, abortion. these are all things his former world not only tolerated but embraced and promoted. for great profit.

so far, i’ve not noticed he is being condemned.

for instance, he WAS instantly condemned for wearing a MAGA hat. :-|
evidently, for many, “the unforgivable sin.”

if he continues, he may confuse a whole lot of people.
even more than ever before.

Has anyone given the album a spin? Are the lyrics wholesome?
