"the image and glory of God," are wonderous words. they encourage hope beyond our ability to understand.Wade wrote:What is unique to me about humans is that they have a living soul.KingdomBuilder wrote:What do y'all get from this verse?“For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God,

1 Corinthians 11:7
"since he is the image and glory of God" has perplexed me.
I am not sure how to relate that to God exactly?
But humans are unlike all other living things by that point and then made up of body, soul, and spirit. Three parts - similarity to God and His image?
(my understanding) of the overall passage is that it describes headship.
God is head of all, the church honors God, man honors church, woman honors man (her husband.) there is order, but it's not "absolute" order. i.e., all are to honor God, first commandments, OT and NT, but within that, there is God-designed order that serves that end.
respectful order, not abuse of power or disrespect.
i have learned most about this on MD-MN, but, it's scriptural, Anabaptists are not the only ones who recognize this .. however, today, many churches, including some Anabaptist, seem to have put it aside, some consider it archaic, which, of course, cannot be .. this is backward.
God will endure as all else fades.
my 2 cents.
