Current Meaningful Scripture Verse

Post by Sudsy »

This thread is for sharing a scripture verse that lately has been on your mind and your thoughts with regard to it. Use whatever version be it a translation or a paraphrase. Ask questions of others also regarding the verse.

For example -

John 3:17 - For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.

When the Pharisees were about to stone the woman caught in adultery according to what was written in the OT, John 8:1-11, Jesus pointed out that none of them were qualified to pass judgment on others as they, too, were people who sinned. Jesus, however, did judge the Phariseees quite harshly in the texts of 'woes' but He was the only one qualified to do so as He was without sin.

Question - so, does this say that I am therefore not qualified (sin free) to pass judgment on others for their sinning (qualified to 'cast the first stone') and therefore my participation in Christ following is to be focused on His main purpose for coming to this world that others are saved through Him ?

This verse spoke to me, this morning, of being too easily engaged in the judgment of all kinds of sinning in this world rather than engaged in the salvation of others from all this sin. And other scriptures come to mind of the consequences in my own life when I do this judging.

Ephesians 4:29 ESV Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not after you.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

Psalm 103:1 "Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!"

Today, I am blessing the Lord Jesus Christ, because of who He is and what He is doing.

More excerpts from Psalm 103 that are so comforting .....

Remember that He ...
- forgives all your iniquity,
- heals all your diseases,
- redeems your life from the pit,
- crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
- satisfies you with good, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
As far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.

1 John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
