Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

Re: Your view on the modern sports culture?
Good point and there are views from what is referred to as both the more liberal (i.e. modern) Anabaptists and the more conservative (i.e. traditional) Anabaptists. Some chose to not regard things like hunting and fishing as sports but they are big money sports and very competitive areas also. We all 'draw the line' somewhere in our participation in sports and like alcohol for some total abstinence is the way they need to go. As scripture says, whatever we do in word or deed do it unto the Lord.steve-in-kville wrote:I didn't know we had a non-Anabaptist sectiontemporal1 wrote: this thread is in the Anabaptist section, i look forward to reading Anabaptist responses.

Re: Your view on the modern sports culture?
Here is a sermon on Christians and sports and he gets into how they can be played to the glory of God. For those interested in this view -
I found this very good instruction about how to keep away from the idol of sports in a counter-cultural way.

If anyone has a copy of it, John Coblentz's The God of Sports sermon is pretty good. Someone somewhere gave me a CD of it.
