Your Fellowship/Denomination's Statement of Faith

Post by Heirbyadoption »

This thread isn't intended for discussion; if there's a Statement you wish to discuss or inquire about, please start a subsequent thread specific to it.

I would love to see different posters' (meaning their denomination or congregation's) public or formal Statement/Confession of Faith, if people would be willing to post them as the comments in this thread. If it's one of the common ones (including High Church ones) or an extremely long one, such as Dordrecht, Schleitheim, Garden City, etc, perhaps it would be best just to paste a link or simply comment on it's name. And if there's anybody who's fellowship has resisted a formal statement or confession of faith, by all means say so. Thank you.

As part of the Illinois Conference of MC-USA, we say The Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective is our confession.

Here are the commitments that new members make:

1. Do you commit your life to Jesus is Lord?
2. Do you commit yourself to speaking the truth in love following Matthew
18:15-17 to address sin and reconcile interpersonal conflicts?
3. Do you commit yourself to fidelity in marriage and chastity outside of marriage?
4. Do you commit yourself to forsake war and violence and love enemies?
5. Do you commit yourself to turn from wealth and seek justice for the poor?
6. Do you commit yourself to using diverse gifts, abilities and tithes to build up the body of Christ at [this congregation] and beyond?
7. Do you commit yourself to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ?
8. Do you commit yourself to entering with trust and openess into church decision-making?
9. Do you commit yourself to seek counsel and advice in decision-making?

No other takers? Y'all are so very prolific on everything else from head coverings to politics to bible translations, perhaps this is too nonconfrontational of a thread...?

We accept the Dortrecht Confession of Faith and also the supplement as endorsed by the conservative movement of the Mennonite church in 1964.

well... its not on the church website... I only have an E-mailed copy. Most of these churches on the conservative end might not even have a website and then you would have to almost transcribe it by hand. Doctrinally my church would be similar to western fellowship.

Might I ask who you're with? And is your Statement one that your group actually authored, rather than inherited like Dortrecht or Schleitheim?
