There used to be a thread on BMA...

.... but I fear it was over on the old forum!!

Anyways, my wife and I have been in limbo for the past 12 - 18 months. We are starting to look around in the tri-county (Lancaster, Lebanon, Berks) area. Anyways, I understand there might have been a BMA church plant or two. So what can you folks tell me about this particular conference? I know very few people from BMA or else I would just start asking around.

Thanks!

There's a number of BMA congregations along with some independent ones similar to BMA.

If you give me a location and a search radius in terms of drive time, I'd be glad to send you a list.

I was able to search via BMA's website... but that list of independent groups sounds equally as interesting! How easy is it to search by county?

Ok, I am going to give you a few suggestions, based on knowledge that these churches already have NMBs in the church, and in my estimation (as an NMB) should be seriously considered. Since Josh is doing the geographical legwork, I will give you what I know on the ground.

Strickler’s Mennonite Church, 3256 Schoolhouse Road, Middletown, PA 17057 - there is at least one other NMB family there (I know them) with children.

Herr Street Mennonite Church, 1026 Herr Street, Harrisburg, PA 17103 Also VERY welcoming to NMBs. I know a few people from this church, and would feel comfortable that an NMB will not feel at all out of place.

I could also suggest Tidings of Peace in York, but that is not BMA.

Once again, I stand ready with whatever is at my disposal.

I am indirectly familiar with Lehman Street as they helped get the congregation started that I am now a part of although I was not a part of the group at the time. I believe a lot of them would have Eastern roots, but they are certainly not Eastern. I am not familiar enough to know whether they have any NMB folks but I think it would certainly be worth a visit. You can access some of their sermons here: https://soundcloud.com/lehman-st-church

So... is this a different movement yet than the recent Northeast Conference??

No connection. Northeast Conference came out of the Pilgrim Conference which parted ways with Eastern about 26 years ago. Lehman St is 1 or 2 ordained men (plus others) who left Eastern much more recently. I am thinking less than 10 years ago.

Ah yes. IIRC, one of the bishops that helped make the break from EPMC was the one that started Northeast from Pilgrim. fancy how that works!

To each their own, I guess.
