I'm feeling too lazy right now to think of examples but I suspect there are items I might purchase that are good and right in their proper place but that are misused often enough that I wouldn't want to sell them (not that I would say it's sinful to sell them).
I wouldn’t sell spray cans of paint in an area with major graffiti problems.

I BUY spray paint in an area with a major graffiti problem. Flat black to coat the insides of my students telescopes.

Supposed to ask for ID, over 21. For some odd reason, I can't recall ever being asked.

Around here it is locked behind metal bars at Home Depot and you have to get a clerk to unlock it.

Not so much here, I guess they don't want people breaking their cabinet.

We're not there yet. Our Home Depot has all the power tools locked up, though.

I think it is local ordinance that requires it. Not something that Home Depot and other hardware stores are doing voluntarily.

I'd be happy if they just banned spray paint nationwide. The convenience it provides doesn't outweigh the enormous cost of cleaning up graffiti across the country. There are other ways to apply paint including spray guns that work much better anyway.

I'm no graffiti artist, but couldn't graffiti be done with a paintbrush almost as easily?

No, because you'd have to walk around with open cans of paint. Instead of a backpack full of spray paint cans.

I mean theoretically you could paint brush up something. But there is a whole air brushing aesthetic achieved with spray that would be completely lost with brushes. People aren't going to be climbing around on the sides of buildings or bridges/overpasses with open cans of paint.
