What about Good Friday. Even organized labor knows that's a proper Holiday.

Well, I assumed that was part of “Easter”… even federal employees usually don’t work on Easter Sunday.ken_sylvania wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 12:48 pm What about Good Friday. Even organized labor knows that's a proper Holiday.
In other parts of the world, Easter Monday, Tuesday, and even Maundy Thursday can be holidays. Americans really don’t get a lot of days off.

Looks like the White House is on the side that says Easter is not about religion, but about eggs instead:

This is similar to when our youth were told we couldn’t sing any “religious” Christmas songs.RZehr wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:15 pm Looks like the White House is on the side that says Easter is not about religion, but about eggs instead:Religious-themed designs banned from White House Easter egg art contest

Read the actual flyer that Fox News is up in arms about https://firstliberty.org/wp-content/upl ... _Flyer.pdfRZehr wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:15 pm Looks like the White House is on the side that says Easter is not about religion, but about eggs instead:Religious-themed designs banned from White House Easter egg art contest

They are collecting designs from school children that will then be turned into actual easter eggs by artists from around the country who will be hired by the White House to produce the eggs that will be used at the White House.
It does seem appropriate that the White House avoid using taxpayer dollars to produce overtly religious art work, especially that endorses one particular denomination or sect.
School kids are still free to decorate their own easter eggs however they want.
In any event, it's not actually the White House but the American Egg Board that is sponsoring and managing the contest and event: https://www.incredibleegg.org/about-us/

If it’s inappropriate for White House Easter eggs to have a single religious theme on any of them, I’m sure you would agree that any rainbow LGBTQ themes are in appropriate in June too, right?Ken wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 1:13 amRead the actual flyer that Fox News is up in arms about https://firstliberty.org/wp-content/upl ... _Flyer.pdfRZehr wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:15 pm Looks like the White House is on the side that says Easter is not about religion, but about eggs instead:Religious-themed designs banned from White House Easter egg art contest

Sure. They should be kid designs, not political.RZehr wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 1:17 amIf it’s inappropriate for White House Easter eggs to have a single religious theme on any of them, I’m sure you would agree that any rainbow LGBTQ themes are in appropriate in June too, right?Ken wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 1:13 amRead the actual flyer that Fox News is up in arms about https://firstliberty.org/wp-content/upl ... _Flyer.pdf

I generally in favor of disconnecting egg events at Easter from Jesus.

I doubt that is the White House’s reason here.
