Whispering Pines?

Post by steve-in-kville »

Has anyone ever heard of this facility? I understand it to be like Sheperd's Fold but I cannot find anything on an internet search. Thanks.

That must be it. The person telling me about it must have misspoke.

Know anything about the place?

I'm not sure who the facility serves, but I know of Amish and Old Order Mennonites who have been residents there. I assume it's limited to the plain people, and probably specifically the horse & buggy folks. I could be wrong about that. Some of the residents spend time there prior to or after a prison sentence, so I believe it is designed to, among other things, rehabilitate and counsel serious offenders and criminals.

We have some facilities around here that cater to plain people. Some of them would be much more comfortable for Amish people than non-Amish (eg an alternative to a mental ward that has a non electronic Amish style home, also used for mothers struggling with PPD; I presume most non horse and buggy wouldn’t be interested. The facility does allow other affiliations but when I asked. Nobody had ever tried.)

Never heard of the place until today. My coworker is ordained in the Horning church and they are trying to get one of their members in there.
