I'm surprised with how high gambling ranks on the list for some of us. Is it really that widespread a means of destruction of families? Don't get me wrong, where it exists, I am sure it is very bad. But is it really as common as, say, alcohol abuse?

i’m not unhappy to see serious questions arise on this:

 States sue Meta claiming its social platforms are addictive and harm children's mental health

Also, i’m glad to see general reports of schools setting limits, not allowing smartphones in schools.

True throughout history, new inventions come first, methods, uses, rules+regulations follow.
Tech should not be the exception.

One hears stories.

But as a teacher I have seen a lot of broken homes over the years and never once has gambling been cited as the primary cause. It is usually some combination of infidelity and/or abuse often driven by some type of substance abuse, most commonly alcohol.

Back in the day you would hear of marriages ruined by World of Warcraft.

I used to work with guys that would completely disappear. They were in too deep with a bookie or loan shark. Left town to avoid the consequences.

It evened up now, but when I typed this originally, gambling had a big edge over alcohol.

Also- looking at this now, I'm shocked and yet not shocked that the sex/porn option has garnered that many votes. Shocked, yet not shocked, for some strange reason :(

I too, wonder about the results. My colleagues would certainly include internet addictions yet there are so few votes.
