The Anabaptist perception towards addiction rehab facilities!

If we look closely at the James text there are a number of possible hindrances to healing that come to mind. For instance -
- did the sick person call for the elders if they were able to
- what exactly is the 'prayer of faith' ? (Faith - the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen)
- is it correct to believe this healing will be immediate or to go on believing that God will heal in His timing ?
- whose faith is involved ? the elders ? the sick person ? both ?
- what if one elder has doubts ?
- what if the oil was not used as stated ?

I’ve seen this followed to a tee and the person was still not healed.

I also think that legalistically having a checklist before God will help us is not how God actually works. In fact, God often reaches out and touches his children who don’t have enough faith, who have doubts, and aren’t following the NT teachings perfectly. Jesus certainly did so when he was on earth.

Here's just my opinion.

Like any sin. Jesus said to cut it off / pluck it out.

Radical amputation. Cut off the drugs / alcohol / whatever. Disable it.

ie move - get away - smash bottles - break pipes - break cell phones with dealer's numbers - move far from a liquor store - take the tires off your car if needed - do anything to get away and cut off the sin.

Fast, pray, and fill the void with Christ.
