Bologna is just hotdog pancakes.

Change my mind.

(believe it or not, as much as we consider bologna a Pennsylvania Dutch staple, its origins come from Italy. Scrapple on the other hand, that's 100% German 8-) )

Specifically from the city of Bologna, which is a really cool city to visit. The hotdog pancakes there are known as mortadella, which basically means dead stuff.

I wasn’t aware bologna was a Penn. Dutch thing. Virtually everyone else in America eats bologna, and in particular the infamous bologna sandwich.

Two slices John F. Martin Sweet Bologna in a sandwich with soft unhealthy white bread, one slice of American cheese, an unhealthy amount of mayo, and a bag of artery clogging Herr's chips. Far better than that other pale bologna.

One thing I’ll never be nor understand is being Pennsylvania Dutch. I’m extremely grateful I am not the only non-Pennsylvania Dutch person in my congregation; a lot of other people are not so lucky.

Martin's or Diffenbachs chips work as well.

It was originally called "Mortadella di Bologna" - mortadella from Bologna. And the word mortadella may well be derived from the word "mortar", since it was originally made with a mortar and pestle. Or possibly from a word that means myrtle, which may have once been used in making the sausage. Here's what it looks like:

But in Bologna, they don't call it Bologna. And for what it's worth, in Berlin, they don't call those donuts Berliners either, they call them Pfannkuchen.

And in America, most of us don't know what German bakeries sell as "Amerikaner". These things, which I had never seen before I lived in Berlin:

Has anyone here been to Souse, Bulgaria?

Is it biblical? Is it Christlike? Is it loving? Is it true? How can I find out?
