I like making jam and jelly and trying new kinds.

Violet jelly is a new favorite.

I like mint jelly made with real peppermint tea leaves, no food coloring.

Its easy to make your own apple butter in a crockpot, or pear butter.

Pear honey is another favorite at our house.

One of the boys brought home a Southern Sunshine Jam that has several different fruits in it. I'd like to try a version of that one myself with more fruit in it.

1. Lemon Curd
2. Lime Curd
3. Grape jelly
Technically the curds are not jellies or jams. They are toppings and spreads. I still like them on toast. Life is too short to wait for a dessert.

I can justify lemon and lime curds for dessert or toast since they contain eggs, a healthy protein  . Happy memories in a jar.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -

Nobody mentioned crab apple jelly. Probably my favourite. But I also like a good pear jam. And apple butter spread on a bagel with cream cheese.

Apple butter also works as a great dip with sticky rice. But it needs to be our local Wellesley brand of apple butter. Most American brands put way to much cinnamon in it.

What did you think it was?
