What the Mennonites got right

While it is good to reflect and consider how we can do thing better, it is just as important to recognize the things we are on track doing right.

Please take a moment or two to post what you think we are getting/have gotten right.

One for me is faith centered community.

Trying to actually obey "love your enemies", and not finding excuses or systems to work out how you can love someone whilst killing them.

Two things that drew me into Anabaptism, and keep me here are:

1) A deeply rooted sense of community ("one-anothering")

2) A sense that ones faith should impact all areas of life.

Two Kingdom Theology - and the tension between the Sattler and Marpeck flavors.

Focusing on what Jesus said and did, and being suspicious of fancy theologies and rites and religious practices.

I think community is the big one. I wish the community could be more Christ-like at times, but I haven't found anything better.

For true evangelical faith is of such a nature that it cannot lay dormant;
but manifests itself in all righteousness and works of love;
it dies unto flesh and blood; destroys all forbidden lusts and desires;
cordially seeks, serves and fears God;
clothes the naked; feeds the hungry;
consoles the afflicted; shelters the miserable;
aids and consoles all the oppressed;
returns good for evil; serves those that injure it;
prays for those that persecute it;
teaches, admonishes and reproves with the Word of the Lord;
seeks that which is lost;
binds up that which is wounded;
heals that which is diseased and saves that which is sound.
The persecution, suffering and anxiety which befalls it for the sake of the truth of the Lord,
is to it a glorious joy and consolation.
