Completely hypothetical...

Post by KingdomBuilder »

How likely do you think it is that you, if you would have been born in a tradition outside of CA, would ever end up in a CA church?

Feel free to expound upon your reasoning below.

I did, and I did, so I think I would. So I put 100%.

I marked 10%. It’s hard though to guess because the likelihood probably would depend on my location and my upbringing.

Experimental probability appears to be 1.

I was born in another non-CA background and was attracted to Anabaptist church but not one considered CA.

As for becoming part of a CA church, my guess would be less than 10% so I put 10%. I think my questioning on things and being of a different ethnic background would make me feel too out of place in a CA church. Also, I doubt CAs being so few and not very evangelical in outreach would not reach me before other more evangelical groups.

However if we were talking modern Anabaptist churches like ours, the % would be quite high. I relate more to the Greg Boyd and Bruxy Cavey, evangelical, modern, semi-charismatic, encouraged questioning type of group.

The old woodcutter spoke again. “It is impossible to talk with you. You always draw conclusions. Life is so vast, yet you judge all of life with one page or one word. You see only a fragment. Unless you know the whole story, how can you judge?"

The probability for me would have been equal to that of the population in general.

But you were half way there weren't you? I thought you were from an ethnic Mennonite background.

As the question is completely hypothetical I can't really vote for the 100%, which is not hypothetical for me and my wife.
