Are government regulated juvenile detention centres somehow better?
Simply stating a fact. And not all of them were under an anabaptist umbrella, either.

Are they actually unregulated? Or are there regulations in place that they just choose not to follow and largely get away with it because no one is really paying attention?

Good question. I'm getting my info from the PPP podcast. The guest speakers were attorneys that specialize in abuse in religious communities. Didn't listen to all of it yet. Pretty interesting stuff, sad, but interesting.

Are you listening to the one by Franchi and Foote?

It was a lady and a man that were the guest attorneys. I got halfway and had to stop. Want to finish listening some evening.

I'm curious if they mentioned that they are the attorneys who filed suit against Liberty Ridge.

I remember they did a lot of work for victims of the Catholic church. It was a specialty thing their firm did.

I listened to it. And yes they did. Although the podcast was more about abuse and reporting of it generally and not a lot of specifics about Liberty Ridge.

I get kind of tired of these nonstop lies and half-truths about these camps. In Ohio, these are regulated, and there have been no problems. They didn't used to be regulated and there were no problems back then either. (The legislature explicitly passed laws allowing these camps to be open and operate because the department that runs juvenile services was trying to shut them down.)

The attitude that regulation is the answer to everything is really irritating.

One has to wonder if a plaintiff's attorneys (who stand to make a great deal of profit from winning) are really an entirely objective source of information. The plain people's podcast seems to not want a lot of credibility lately; they'll let just about anyone on with an axe to grind.
