Are you permanently in Seattle now T1?
i’m not sure what to do about it, esp not how to do anything about it.
i am impressed with how quickly you made your move to TN! i wish i could duplicate it.
everything seems impossible.
“doing nothing” is a decision of itself.
i try to imagine how that will “eventually” play out, ‘not a great picture there, either. i mean, what my family will have to deal with, one way or another.
they are busy trying to live (in an impossible world) who has time to deal with anything?
i really miss our family leaders. we’re pretty lost without them.

Re: Hi from appleman
God miraculously worked out all the details of our move, literally. We never listed our house for sale and sold it by word of mouth to a couple we knew from a church we had been attending in earlier years. We showed the house 3 times in total. They paid the asking price (which was lower than market value...) The house we bought in TN was the only one available of all the homes we had been watching for months, and it came on 5 days before our first trip to TN to look. It was the only house we looked at. I am amazed as I look back how God increased our strength for this move and blessed us with a few friends and family to help along the way. I literally finished the remodelling work a week before we moved which was ongoing when we showed the home. We are very happy with our home here, though it hasn't been without some challenges along the way too. We are already involved in a church here and have made a few friends of lasting quality already. We praise God for bringing us to the place He chose for us to finish our days here on earth.temporal1 wrote:i find my heart is permanently with my family, while “my stuff” remains in Illinois.george:

You can do it too, if you put it all into His hands and allow Him to orchestrate your move.
Blessings to you T1.

Found: COSMIC CRISP APPLES in my local illinois store.
They are gorgeous. Big! 9-10 ounces.
i bought 4. ate the first that evening. too many carbs! blood sugar went up.
yesterday i more wisely cut one in two. much better.
as promoted, the second half did not turn brown quickly. the second half was nearly as good as the first. i like the flavor, apple-y, not too sweet or tart. juicy!
so pretty, they remind me of Snow White’s apple:

Re: Hi from appleman
Temp, I just ate my first Cosmic Crisp last week. Unfortunately not from my tree. We buy them at our local grocery stores now. They are tangy. My Cosmic Crisp tree was nibbled by deer, but is still alive. If I find another larger tree for sale, I think I’ll replace it.temporal1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2019 1:16 amYears have passed, i still have not seen a COSMIC CRISP anywhere!temporal1 wrote:hi again, appleman -

Re: Hi from appleman
Thanks, I was wondering where this conversation was. I took four and a half years from this May 2017 until Jan 2022 to eat my first Cosmic Crisp.

For some reason I find apple varieties interesting.appleman2006 wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2017 9:21 amI am not real familiar with the Cosmic Crisp. I am guessing it is especially bred for a Washington State climate and is their attempt at trying to benefit from the Honey Crisp phenomenon. Honey Crisp is the first really popular apple in a long time that cannot really be grown well in the Washington climate and it is driving them crazy out there that they are missing out on it. I am guessing this is their attempt at getting a part of that market.temporal1 wrote:Have been reviewing Rose's blog recently, and wondering if you folks have any plans for COSMIC CRISP?temporal1 wrote:

since MN, you have mentioned a couple of times while posting, that you had more to say, but would stop .. i have been wanting to suggest you begin a thread to continue these thoughts - like justme has "jm's random thoughts," max has "Campground Ramblings," i have "omnium-gatherum" ..
i will enjoy Rose's blog, and, would enjoy reading a thread for+by you, too.

Re: Hi from appleman
Cosmic Crisp was bred/developed at Washington State University and is only licensed to be sold to Washington state growers. I'd like to pick up a sapling or two to plant in the yard but they seem to be unavailable at local nurseries and only sold to commercial growers. WSU holds the patent and apparently sales are only restricted to Washington growers for the first 10 years and they have to pay royalties back to WSU.RZehr wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 10:02 pm Thanks, I was wondering where this conversation was. It is some kind of cross between Honeycrisp and enterprise apples, trying to keep most of the characteristics of the honeycrisp but later ripening, better storage characteristics, and more suited to Washington's climate.
Maybe they will eventually be available to home gardeners, but not at the moment.
