The addition of the heart seemed to be pretty effective in reducing the number of Amen posts, but recently there's an epidemic of these Double Amen posts. Good for increasing post count I suppose, but tends to clutter the threads. I wish there'd be a way to "double like" a post instead.

i’ve wondered about similar.
i revisit threads/posts that i would happily add an additional heart to!

i’m not in any way interested in increasing post counts!
only that one time on MD, when members were trying to help justme pass a certain milestone for one of her epic threads.

i’m not at all sure how adding hearts would be done. it’s beyond me.

You don't need to worry about post counts you are near the top already! I remember the days back in MD when I was near the top too...somehow it just doesn't seem as important anymore, eh?
