(i believe) .. when MN began, Robert set up an auto-removal of more than 3 quotes. others may know better.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

i have many fond memories of MD. :D
my post count is not one of them! lol o.my.

i did not realize posts were tracked. by the time i noticed, the damage was done. :-|
it was the furthest thing from my mind. honestly, if it had been a goal, i probably would have gotten nervous+anxious, and failed. :P

i know some others had fun with it. and, at least one was downright competitive!
i tried to give my count away several times. no takers.

my daily count is now under 4. i’m much happier with that. :blah:

If I have nothing to add, I try to remember to use the like button.

If I want to amplify what someone said, I often find the best way is to start a new thread on the topic, posing some questions on the things that are really worth considering in the post, and finding a non-threatening way to invite discussion. I'm not always good at that, some of you can do that better, and I'd love to see more of it. Maybe it's a skill we can learn from each other?

Is it biblical? Is it Christlike? Is it loving? Is it true? How can I find out?

Maybe we should start an Amen thread to see.
Or perhaps find an icon that has Amen squared or cubed?

I would also like to see a section similar to the old regions section, but instead of regions it is broken out into various constituencies such as by conferences or fellowships, or brotherhoods, and including all Anabaptist affiliated groups including Old Order River Brethren, German Baptist, etc.

Maybe what I am looking for is a more grown up version of MD. Where instead of a place where people go to critique Mennonites and others under the Anabaptist umbrella, it is a place where people can connect and identify with Mennonites or a particular Anabaptist group.

I don’t know how you’ve managed in Robert, but I do feel MN is more connecting with other conservative anabaptists and less critiquing of mentos then MDland was. Maybe I just walked in during a calm moment, but I have the sense we are at a better place.

Robert wrote:Justme suggested that the Welcome thread should be viewable to all. Since we moderate the first post so we can filter out the trash and spam, what is left is acceptable, so there is no reason not to make it viewable. I should have it set so it can be seen (Read Only Access) since many are posting nice and informative comments there. We will try it this way for a bit and see how it goes. Let me know if you can not see it.
But how are we supposed to welcome new members if we can't reply to their introductions? Too many rules and regulations, I'm going back to the Amish...

Ebb and flow. Ebb and flow. Just wait. It gets worse before it gets better.

MennoNet is actually more controlled by the posters than by the moderators. That is not always a good thing.

i agree regarding ebb+flow.
one thing Reflect is doing that elevates discussion is: going through archives to find topics of her interest - rather than sole focus on active topics. interesting how 1 person can make a difference. :)

regarding mods. welll. from my “not-inside” pov, MD had an admin, almost never present.
MN has an admin regularly present.

he just doesn’t always do just exactly what each member imagines needs doing. :P .. as well, he has this annoying fantasy we-all are supposed to behave as adults. :?

i miss justme’s oversight. she was a dedicated presence! not sure how she managed it all.
very glad she’s still about, and, a working presence on MN.

i agree. MN has its own identity. a fond sibling of MD. not identical twns.
(my subjective observations.)
