This is not a question of party affiliation. It implies as well Ken's question wether protests may be stifled by the argument that they are "disobeying".

thankfully, i’m not admin/mod, but i look forward to a future thread topic led by you on these points. good idea.

as you’ve written it, it might fit under Christian Theology, or Homestead.
but due to the nature of thinking it might draw, waiting a few weeks might be the wiser.

for myself, i grieve “we all” have allowed so much of our lives, frankly, even the most personal and intimate, to become solidly political. :( this is a terrible terrible loss. yet, so normalized, it’s not noticed, it’s expected+demanded! if it’s not there, people become confused and undone.

the first steps to addressing any problem is the ability to admit there is a problem, identify it.
only at that point is problem resolution possible.

when everyone you know (or, i.e., value) appears to be the same or worse, identifying the problem can be next to impossible. as a culture, the U.S. is “here.” ^^^

don’t forget! :)

This is a fitting topic for this "season". (I had even thought of creating a topic called The End of Politics - a sort of spoof off of the one called The End of the World or somesuch. I *can't* wait for it.)

EDIT: I guess it was The End of History....

2023

Robert’s 40 day politics sabbatical began Jan 8 2021. Almost 2 years ago.

Today ..
after watching YET ANOTHER topic take off on T R U M P, i began to daydream.

How about .. 40 days without Trump?

Not in subject lines, content, initials, nicknames?? No workarounds.

Would it endanger anyone’s health? Mental health?
Should there be a private emergency “help line”?

A quick forum search of “Trump” reflects his name 6013+ times. (Doesn’t count variations.)

For THE SUGGESTION BOX.

My dear daughter, a brilliant 27-year-old who is leaving her mark in the world as a behavior analyst working to better the lives of autistic kids (and who is also working toward adopting a high-needs child), was surprised to learn in a discussion in our living room this weekend that Donald J. Trump is once again running for president. She had no idea, and no strong opinion one way or another! She is not an ignorant person...just absolutely not interested in politics.

Her contribution to the world around her is living out her faith in the context of those she can directly reach.

I'm humbled and challenged by her clarity.

Very little a president does actually impacts us in any tangible way. I would be completely ignorant of the election or who was running if it wasn’t for plain news and Mennonet. I just have no real reason to care. Some friends of ours only found out who the president was after someone mentioned it in passing at work.
