Welcome to MennoNet
Post by admin » Wed Oct 19, 2016 3:25 pm

Welcome to MennoNet.com, the descendant of MennoDiscuss.com. If you are not familiar with MennoDiscuss.com, that is alright. You are still just as welcome.

We have a two step registration process to help filter out automatic processes and spammers, this being the second step. We ask each new member to reply with a post here so we can verify their intent.

Please post one or two sentences about you or what you are looking for. Only post once and wait for us to approve. It can take up to a day. Please be patient. Posting twice messes up the registration process and it has to be dealt with manually instead of the easy automatic process we have.

We will approve you and you will have access to the rest of the forum. Once approved, this section will become read only access to you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Peace.

2016 / Mrs.Nisley registers:
Post by Mrs.Nisly » Sun Oct 23, 2016 11:33 pm

Hello,
I go by a new name these days. I am Mrs.Nisly. In extreme circumstances I am willing to be referred to as MN.
Two things I have learned over the past nearly 10 years is that long names like anabaptistengima are tedious and that gender matters.
My life circumstances have also changed considerably. Ten years ago I was a mother of a couple of youngsters with the addition and loss of a couple more. Now I am comfortably middle aged, my burning questions of identity and direction have mostly found rest.
I am embarking on a new era of influence and vision for the next generation of my community by teaching elementary education, as well as digging into the historical roots of this community, in order to help build up a strong community of faithfulness.

Voluntary - 2016 / Mrs.Nisly’s Introduction thread

Mrs.Nisly wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2016 12:35 pm I will start an introduction thread and Robert may change it how ever he wishes.

I am Mrs.Nisly formerly known as anabaptistenigma. I am a conservative Mennonite from Kansas. The church I attend is affiliated with the Biblical Mennonite Alliance.
I am married and am the mother of three children here on earth.
I am a part time teacher at the local Mennonite sponsored Christian School. I teach Science/History, Art, Writing, and Grammar to a 3-4 grade class of 17 students.
I enjoy reading and learning. I spend way too much time researching a particular topic that has captured my interest.
I also like antiques, china and glassware, interior design, chickens, camping with my family, and occasionally cooking.

This thread is to invite registered new members to MennoNet, and, especially, to invite them to add to their initial required registration introductions.

Initial introductions are the great starting place!
However, there is no way for members reading to respond, aside from clicking the heart icon.

There are so many interesting introductions!!
Not so many continue with posts, or maybe a very few. Shy? Unsure how to begin? :)

The purpose of this thread may be the same as Mrs.Nisly’s.
How to approach it, for new members or existing, is open - with a prayer for no politics, no debate ..
the goal is to be upbeat and welcoming.

Thank you for accepting my membership request. I am interested in Christian pacifism (or, if you prefer, "non-resistance") , the history and theology of the so-called peace churches and (of course) the Bible. I stayed with Old Order Mennonites in the Finger Lake area and lived in several Hutterite colonies. I also went to several Mennonite church services in Neuwied / Germany and have been to historical sites of Anabaptism e.g. in Rottenburg. But i'm not a Mennonite myself.

I posted frequently on MennoDiscuss years ago. I'm checking on what's being talked about in Mennonite/Anabaptist circles.

i chose the Anabaptist Theology and Practice category, ‘cause most new members arrive with interest in Anabaptists and Mennonites, usually the conservative end.

Mods:
i like moving these posts^^ to combine threads! i hope Mrs.Nisly does, too.
Much better.

One request:
How about moving this topic to the ANABAPTIST category?
After starting this today, i wondered if new members (and old) MIGHT be more likely to notice it in - the category they initially sought?

It’s really interesting to review the registration posts, regardless of background, the majority arrive interested in Anabaptists/Mennonites. i don’t recall one new member seeking worldly current events or politics! including myself.

A thread on Introductions logically belongs in the Announcements and Introductions category, doesn't it? But let's pin it so it doesn't get lost.

ok. hope it helps.

isn’t it interesting that after all these years, new members keep appearing with the similar interest in (moderate-conservative Mennonites/Anabaptists)? no matter if they are Mennonites or new to it. somehow, those early teens put something unique in process. it’s lasted so much longer than they imagined (i read in their own words on MD). they never imagined.

with all the changes, ups+downs, contests, etc., new members continue to arrive, pretty much as they ever did.

even then, i remember CountryBoy urging the “lurkers” to join in! he teased and challenged them. i didn’t know what a lurker was.
his girls must be young ladies by now.

i’ve always thought the “plain” nature of the forum is part of its longevity.
it attracts readers+writers. lots of people have no patience at all for reading+writing.

there is tons of flash out-there. MD-MN sails under the radar to a great extent. enough for survival!

I am a lapsed Catholic, who has become somewhat disillusioned with the faith, and I'm interested in reading some different viewpoints from those who's faith plays an important part in their lives.
Welcome to MN, David. :D
You’re in Scotland.

i hope you enjoy reading here, most here, if not all, hold their Christian faith as central, various faiths are represented, including Catholics in different stages of their faith, interest in Mennonites/Anabaptists (where the forum began) brings us together.

i’m just a member saying hello, not a mod or Anabaptist, with many common beliefs and interests with others present.

If you need help navigating or with any question, help is available.

i look forward to reading more from you.

My name is Orion and I've mostly lurked in discussions, but I made an account to ask for help in locating a conservative anabaptist fellowship near me.
