March 20, 2003 President Bush announces U.S. forces have begun a military operation into Iraq. "These are opening stages of what will be a broad and concerted campaign," the president says. That initial effort to "decapitate" Iraq's leadership with air strikes fails, clearing the way for a ground invasion.
The IBC project released a report detailing the deaths it recorded between March 2003 and March 2005[86] in which it recorded 24,865 civilian deaths. The report says the U.S. and its allies were responsible for the largest share (37%) of the 24,865 deaths.
Pro-Invasion Bias
A study found that in the lead up to the Iraq War, most [media] sources were overwhelmingly in favor of the invasion.
A University of Maryland study on American public opinion found that:
Fifty-seven percent of mainstream media viewers believed that Iraq gave substantial support to Al-Qaeda, or was directly involved in the September 11 attacks (48% after invasion).
Sixty-nine percent believed that Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the September 11 attacks.
Twenty-two percent believed that weapons of mass destruction had been found in Iraq. (Twenty-one percent believed that chem/bio weapons had actually been used against U.S. soldiers in Iraq during 2003)

The old woodcutter spoke again. “It is impossible to talk with you. You always draw conclusions. Life is so vast, yet you judge all of life with one page or one word. You see only a fragment. Unless you know the whole story, how can you judge?"

Yes. We were given messaging that sounds a lot like the propoganda coming from Russia. It will be temporary, it is to overthrow corrupt or oppressive government, it will restore government representative of the people, our troops will be welcomed with flowers in the streets...

It is always different "when it is us." It is always just. With the Russians they are always evil liars.
I suppose I am one a few who had spiritual leaders who spoke out about the pro war propoganda leading up to these wars. He mentioned the majority of victims will be civilian and compared the de-humanization of Saddam Hussein (he was compared to a mad dog that needed to be "put down") to the similar treatment of other groups like Native Americans.

We heard then about the evil Hussein just like we hear about the evil Putin now.
No one is invading Russia or calling for an invasion of Russia to replace Putin.
The correct parallel to the Bush Administration lies about Iraq in order to justify the invasion of Iraq are the lies that that Russia is telling to justify the invasion of Ukraine. They are lies BY Putin, not lies ABOUT Putin.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
