The old woodcutter spoke again. “It is impossible to talk with you. You always draw conclusions. Life is so vast, yet you judge all of life with one page or one word. You see only a fragment. Unless you know the whole story, how can you judge?"

Amen but if it does -
Matthew 24:3 -
In answering this question one thing that especially jumps out at me - verse 6 -As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
Whenever these and all of the things mentioned in this Matthew 24 answer, I'm thankful that we can still have the peace of God through whatever may come as we have the Holy Spirit in us enabling us to have this peace. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Romans 15:13 -
What a wonderful blessing to live in a hope, joy and a peace beyond all understanding.May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Interesting how near to the embassy this consulate was. My understanding is that an embassy is legally the same as Iran itself. Are consulates considered lower, rented offices that are part of the host country, unlike a proper embassy?
Is it more acceptable to attack a consulate than an embassy? Or is there no difference? Small technical difference?

A consulate doesn’t provide as many services and is often just nondescript rented room in a strip mall. A consulate provides basic services for citizens but doesn’t have a full diplomatic staff.RZehr wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 10:10 am Interesting how near to the embassy this consulate was. Hungary has an honorary consul in Ohio that provides basic services like helping with lost passports.

There's typically only one embassy in each country, and it usually provides consular services (issuing travel documents, assisting citizens with legal and emergency matters, promoting education and trade, etc.). There may also be other consulates in major cities; in Germany, the US has an embassy in Berlin and consulates in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Leipzig, and Munich. But not all consulates offer all services; if you need an emergency passport, apparently that can only be done in Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich. Consuls report to their respective ambassadors.RZehr wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 10:10 am Interesting how near to the embassy this consulate was. So I would say an attack on a consulate would be less serious than an attack on an embassy, but both would be considered an attack on the country it represents. Sort of like robbing a branch bank instead of the main office.
But in this case the article linked in the OP refers to it as a "consular building in the embassy compound" so there's not much distinction, if any.
