If the people of Palestine have a right to exist, then why are they being killed? Why didn't Israel just arrest the men responsible for Oct 7, and leave the rest of the people in Gaza alone? Why do they have to keep killing everyone in Gaza to "avenge" Oct 7th?

Here is the "common sense" answer that would solve the Palestinian "problem" from the men who founded our country:

No, Palestinians are not legally equal to the Jews in Israel. The people of Gaza are not allowed the right to vote, based on their race. This needs to change and they should be equal in every way to the Zionists.

The people of Gaza have neither their lives, their liberty, and there is no happiness when your hospital is being shelled. The Zionists need to be held accountable.

Except for the people of Gaza. They do not have any means to alter or abolish the government that has become destructive of their "inalienable" rights. They should "at least" be able to vote the Zionists out of office.

"Ballots not Bullets." That is the answer.

I understand Netanyahu and his Zionist party is hanging onto power by a thread, because all of the "normal" Jews that hate Zionism oppose Netanyahu and the other Zionists.

All they need is to give the right to vote to all Palestinians, everyone over 18 years old, universal suffrage for all people, not limited to race or religion. If they do this, Zionism will meet the same fate as Communism. The majority of people in Israel oppose Zionism. Zionism will become just another nasty footnote in the dustbin of History. And without Zionism, the relationship between Jews and Muslims throughout the world would improve dramatically.

100 years earlier, the Ottoman Empire ruled that part of the world.

In the 40s, 50s, and 60s, the Arab states decided to engage in total war against the new state of Israel. They lost.

They also generally decided to ally with the Soviets, which led to Israel allying with America in the 60s. Since the Soviets ultimately lost almost everything, this put the Arab states at a real disadvantage.

Some Arab states were truly multiethnic, religiously pluralistic, and multicultural. Syria still is. Iraq was before America decided to invade and destroy it. Iran still is too.

The Ottoman Empire was one of the most multi-ethnic empires in history. There were literally hundreds of different ethnicities and religious groups living within the Ottoman Empire including the greater Palestine area which was home to Arabs, Jews, Christians, Druze, Kurds, and various Christian and Muslim sects.

This largely continued during the British Mandate although the British somewhat favored Arabs because they were seeking access to Saudi Arabian oil reserves and the Suez Canal. With the Brits it is always geopolitics and self interest.

When greater Palestine (The British Mandate) was partitioned in 1948, the bulk of the territory went into various Arab-dominated multi-ethnic states (Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon). The Arab world wasn't interested in an independent Palestinian State. Egypt claimed Gaza, Jordan claimed the West Bank, and Lebanon and Syria split the northern part. Only the small portion of land in the British Mandate where Jews were numerous was given over to Israel in the form of a Jewish-majority multi-ethnic state.

But the larger Arab world couldn't tolerate that and so launched what has become a 75-year long war to erase Israel from the map. And here we are today.

America is going to build a floating port right next to the coast. What could possibly go wrong there?
