Snopes routinely holds the Bee accountable for creating Fake News stories meant to make us laugh and think.

Now, it’s Reuters’ turn.

The once-neutral outlet reached out to the Bee’s Editor-in-Chief, Kyle Mann, to see if the site’s story about ballot boxes being placed along the U.S.-Mexico border was true.

Mann shared the back-and-forth exchange with his X followers.

His response?

“We went down to the border and took that picture. So it’s true. Hope this helps.”

Mann kept the running gag alive days later.

For those who may not know, Raytheon is a large military contractor.

Raytheon is one of those names that reminds me of those old ray gun/sci fi comic books. I think the corporation has changed its name?

Raytheon still exists. They merged with another big aerospace contractor called United Technologies and the new parent company is called RTX. But RTX corporation still keeps Raytheon as one of its three subsidiaries along with Pratt & Whitney and Collins Aerospace.

So Raytheon is now a subsidiary of the larger defense conglomerate RTX.

I get the joke, but the president doesn't control Pentagon funding, Congress does. And Haley was never a member of Congress.

No matter who wins the White House, Trump or Biden, their budget proposals for Pentagon spending and all other spending will be DOA when sent up to Congress, as has been the case for decades. And it will be up to Congress to decide the Pentagon budget as well as the budgets of every other Federal agency. Presidents can threaten to veto spending bills if they don't like them. But that is about all they can do. And vetoes are always subject to a Congressional override.

Whether it is immigration or Pentagon spending or any other major issue. People tend to assign way too much power to the president and not nearly enough to Congress, which mostly seems to just skate along and evade responsibility for both its actions and inactions.

The White House is a major bully pulpit
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bully_pulpit
A bully pulpit is a conspicuous position that provides an opportunity to speak out and be listened to.

This term was coined by United States President Theodore Roosevelt, who referred to his office as a "bully pulpit", by which he meant a terrific platform from which to advocate an agenda. Roosevelt used the word bully as an adjective meaning "superb" or "wonderful", a more common usage at that time.[1][2]
