People who do not understand nature and forest ecology have the strange idea that harvesting trees is "bad", so they oppose the forest products industry. Many locales are banning plastic grocery bags. Wildfires are way down in Michigan because the forests are managed well. I also think some of the increased growth is from the extra co2 available and the slight warming.
