His sentence seems light, maybe about what you could expect for someone with no priors. If it weren't for the amount of money spent by the Chicago police department on tracking down his non-existent assailant, I wonder if he would have been prosecuted. Based on his conviction, Jussie Smollett would seem to qualify as one of the biggest liars around. Sabotaged his future prospects in a big way, which is probably a much greater punishment than a few months in jail.
What's incredible is that the Cook County State's Attorney, Kim Foxx wrote an op-ed arguing that he shouldn't even have been charged, and calling it a trial by "kangaroo court".

Song by Nelson Riddle
Chicago, Chicago that toddling town
Chicago, Chicago I will show you around
Bet your bottom dollar you have some fun in Chicago, Chicago
The town that Billy Sunday couldn't shut down
On State Street, that great street, I just want to say
They do things they don't do on Broadway
They have the time, the time of their life
I saw a man, he danced with his wife
In Chicago, Chicago my home town
Chicago, Chicago that toddlin' town a womderfull town
Chicago, Chicago I'll show you around
Bet your bottom dollar you have some fun in Chicago, Chicago
The town that Billy Sunday could not shut down
On State Street, that great street, I just want to say
They do things that they never do on Broadway
They have the time, the time of their life
I saw a man and he danced with his wife
In Chicago, Chicago, Chicago, that's my home town

It looks like his entire family is pretty "Truth challenged"......The Idea is if you repeat a lie often enough, someone may believe it. Sad situation ,that,

Lengthy. 35 min.
A good example of how courts have facts+details not known in the public.
From what the judge is saying to JS, it makes it even harder to know, after sentencing, JS’s immediate response was defiant denial.
At one point the judge stated JS committed “hours+hours+hours” of perjury on the stand.
The judge repeated the word, “narcissism.”
JS’s family is described as loving, solid, he grew up in security and privilege.

2023 / CARLEE RUSSELL
Several reporters have compared Carlee Russell’s hoax with Jussie Smollett, so i’m posting this here.
From what i’ve read, i appreciate Carlee’s honest admission of fault and guilt. Not easy, and not common.
i hope for the best for her going forward.
