Article: Can an Outsider Ever Truly Become Amish?

I think this was on the old MennoDiscuss site. I just run across this again. Thought it was really interesting article.

Well as a NMB, it really does show some of the realities that can face many of us. Cory's story is probabely known by a decent number of people around hear. I will say that she did highlight the emotion conection to the culture extremely well. The desire to fit in and be part of the group while still never feeling 100% confortable is a real feeling. My hope is that nmb do not take this and use it as an excuse for a pitty party, but use the information to evaluate the reasons and motivations behind our desires.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.
