Books on Biblical Nonresistance

Post by Heirbyadoption »

So this thread is essentially a question primarily for those who are still here on MN who espouse the typical Anabaptist understanding of Biblical Nonresistance (no military/police enrollment, nonviolence, nonswearing, nonlitigation, etc). This is not a thread to debate objections or merits of said Biblical Nonresistance. Please refrain from any temptation to do so, or else start your own thread. Thank you.

To the question: the following list of books are those in my possession (sans 10 or 15 others which I currently have lent out) which specifically address the topic of Nonresistance and/or adjoining issues, relevant accounts, etc, mostly from a Scriptural point of view - I am curious what other books on the subject of Biblical Nonresistance you have read / would recommend, and why?Thank you in advance.

This is a book which I sort of criticized here before (because I think he has some things wrong in the first section of the book), but I picked it up again later, and find some valuable points. That said,
The Anatomy of a Hybrid - A Study in Church-State Relationships, by Leonard Verduin

I actually have a couple of Verduin's books and while I didn't necessarily share his view on quite everything, I do appreciate much that he writes. Could you share what you found disagreeable in the first part of AOH?

The above is where I commented on it before. This was probably my main "beef" with what he wrote. (I'll look back at my notes on the book later.)

Heir, that is an amazing list. I have only read a handful of them, but it covers anything I would have recommended.
