“What a Wonderful World”

"What A Wonderful World"
I see trees of green
Red roses too
I see them bloom
For me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces
Of people going by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying
"I love you"

I hear babies cry
I watch them grow
They'll learn much more
Than I'll never know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Oh yeah

What a Wonderful World
What a Wonderful World was one of Louis Armstrong's favorite songs; he loved it. It is one of the few songs he recorded without playing his trumpet; stringed instruments provide the background music.

Most or all of this drama, humiliation, wasted taxpayer money could be spared -
with even modest attempt at presenting balanced facts from the start.

To our dear friend Wayne in Main
No more suffering, no more pain

You have fought the good fight
You have earned your reward

Nothing left to loose, but all to gain
You will be missed, Wayne in Main

Sorrow

How long, oh LORD, will men divide your flock?
The Shepherds do not believe the LORD,
They drown the Spirit in their unbelief,
And I am imprisoned in darkness and doubt.

You have opened doors before me,
And what you have opened is never closed,
I have passed through, and cannot turn back-
But the night is before me, and a storm.

I have seen your Messenger beckon,
As I lay in affliction upon my bed-
And I heard your host in song-
But my sin made me fearful, and still.

You have smitten my flesh with weakness,
And made my heart bitter and sore
I have betrayed you, railed at heaven,
I can claim no uprightness in myself.

What hope have I in this house of death?
"There is none that does good, no not one."
I seek your forgiveness in the morning,
Through the day, and upon my bed at night.

"The power is gone from His kingdom!"
And all that is left are the lifeless words
In ink that fades on pages turning to dust
And this Temple is desolate, an empty house.

They make dust of your promised healing,
And bury it's light in that desert grave-
"Give over, go down!" is their word...
Did you light a lamp to bury it with dust?

Did your prophets prophesy in vain?
The Lord change his ways with men's days?
Are the lame no longer strenghthend in arm,
Are their knees now to give way to death?

Who believes the Lord to do his will?
Rather they smite the rock of offense-
Mock your law with the reasoning of men
And say "The Spirit! The Spirit!"

Your light burden they have set aside,
And they yoke me with death and grave-
Have you abandoned me to the merciless?
Is your Spirit only a shadow in this world?

I have seen the shadows of this world,
Whispering in the ears of the ignorant-
Loud and uncovered women prophesy "life"
As death is among them with a sword.

Their prophets are adulterers and thieves,
Who can warn the righteous before they fall?
Before men they fall, and disgrace the Lord,
They counterfeit the Spirit and are found out.

All the world makes mockery of the Lord.
"Where is your God? Has his arm failed?"
They laugh at the one you have afflicted,
Your Chastened one they make into a fool.

Will you never strengthen this weak flesh?
Have you chastened to leave me as prey-
My spirit starved, my heart destitute:
Where is a brother? A sister? A wife?

Is there to be no comfort in the dark?
Am I to lie with succubi and swine?
Will you justify the faithless and mockers?
And let the penitent go down into death?

Have you shown me your kingdom's power,
Only to hide it as a dream from the world?
Surely it is not so! Never let it be!
When will you put me on the lamp-stand?

Is faith to be bound up by men's hands?
Limited only to the work of the flesh?
Shall men's philosophies rule God's house?
Has your Spirit no power of renewal?

Will you leave me broken, in doubt-
Feckless and impotent in this world,
Subject to the flesh and it's demands
To choke the root of faith, kill the vine?

Mercy, Oh Lord! Mercy!
Do not bind me with the tares!
Do not cast me into the flame!
Let me live, and let me be a light!

Deep down in the dreamtime:
Images, emotion, people, things.
Dim recollection of simply being,
World known without understanding:
A bit of bark in the rapids,
Barreling down a mountain
Touching, being touched
Touched by soft waters,
kisses and caresses-
Touched by hard stone,
Breaking and tearing and bruising.
Dreamtime was without,
All around us in light and colors,
In shadows, darkness-
And twilights upon twilights …

Dreamtime is only within,
It was without, but now within,
Joy, fear, boredom made ghost-
Onstage in our private playhouse
Dim with time, blurry, yet close
Perspective, resolution, sharpness
Imagery, and sound, and feeling…
And feeling…
And feeling…
And feeling…
