As a library science student who recently took a class on the "history of the book," this is really no great surprise to me.

Me either. Still, within science circles, it’s important as good science depends on good data that’s verifiable. Modern tech that uses DNA analysis is one such means to gather that data. I’m glad that they finally got around to doing this though. It’s something that should have been done years ago. I guess it wasn’t a priority until now.
