Hymn Tune

Post by Heirbyadoption »

Am curious if there are any other old hymnbook/songbook/tunebook aficianados on here like there were in MD? Am looking for any ID/historical data on a particular C.M. tune that my grandparents say they remember as very young children (especially in congregations that were around Mennonites and still spoke Deitsch, especially in PA and IN) and which a couple of us have begun to recently use again. And yes, I'm fully cognizant how much hymnody and tunage has gone down the tubes from the ravages of time and disuse, but this one cropped its head back up, and thus far I am not finding any information.

If there are any such persons, I could email you a copy of the melody as I've transcribed it, or a brief sound byte of us singing it one Sunday. Any takers? Or any non-Mennonet old hymn junkies you could put me in touch with?

You can send it to me. My wife will recognize it if in fact it was one they use to sing.
