If you have evidence that cell phones turn kids into mass shooters I'm sure we would all like to see it. And while you are at it, explain why this only happens in the US and not other countries with ubiquitous cell phone usage like Japan and Sweden. Are our cell phones different from the ones used in Japan or is there some other difference in our societies?

Oh, I think violence is a very complicated topic and there are a LOT of reasons why the US is outlier when it comes to youth firearms deaths and homicides. Looking at the current data below can you honestly say that firearms availability is NOT one of the reasons why the rate in the US is 19-times higher than the average of comparable countries?

Bringing the numbers down is going to require efforts on a lot of different fronts including mental health. But to pretend that gun availability is not a factor and not a necessary part of the solution is to be willfully ignorant of reality. It is the equivalent of trying to tackle obesity without looking at diet. Sure obesity is a complicated subject with multiple contributing causes, but you can't ignore diet if you want to effectively tackle the problem. Same with firearms when it comes to firearms deaths.

Ro me, the elephant in the room is not easy access to firearms, but "why/what" goes on in the "mind" of one who feel s the need to do these Mass shootings. It seems the studies should focus on common factors in those who commit such crimes.
