Bluetooth ear pieces?

Post by steve-in-kville »

Not sure I want to go down this route but I'm asking... can anyone recommend a wireless earpiece that allows me to answer calls and listen to podcasts and music from my phone or tablet? I just need one, not a pair.

Much beyond my coworkers, I don't know much about them. Thanks in advance.

Probably knowing the brand of phone or tablet is useful, not every earpiece may be inter-compatible, at least not to the same degree.

Both are Android platforms. One is LZ and the Lenovo, I think.

I thought Bluetooth worked with anything else that was Bluetooth?

No, I don't. Looks like a "Borg" to me, like someone who has had electronics embedded into their brain.

That's probably true now, especially with Android. Someone from your side of the border needs to give you guidance, I am not familiar with any differences that there may be.

All Bluetooth devices should work with other Bluetooth devices. What are you looking for in an ear piece? What price range?

A coworker has a brand called Tozo and he really like them His pair was around $40 online, which is way cheaper than some of the others I've heard about. Not ready to dump $200 into something I'm not sure I will like.

The Plantronics voyager legend is probably still the gold standard in headsets.

You should be aware however, that listening to anything in just one ear can cause neurological hearing loss. it's less of a problem for older people, but still something you should look into.

I just remembered, I have a as set of "old school" Bluetooth buds that have a wire that goes between the two. Maybe I'll try them to see how viable they would be for my applications. They don't have a mic, though... but for listen to podcasts and such, they may work.

I hate the earbuds that stick in your ear. The solution I have found is the behind-the-ear headphones by Shokz (they have various models with various price points). https://shokz.com/

They all have microphones and a call button so if you get a call or want to make one while wearing them you just hit a button on the side of the headphone. The open-ear design also means you can hear conversation and sounds around you better so I use them for cycling a lot and I can still hear the road traffic while listening to podcasts.

I also like that they are harder to lose than individual ear buds. I have 2 pair now. I thought I had lost the first pair and bought another than found the first ones...oops. But they are better than anything else I have ever tried for podcasts and listening while active.

I also use them for zoom calls at work because my work desktop computer doesn't have speakers or a mic.
