Re: Satellite boosting help
Can you get a signal anywhere in your property? AT&T has a service where you get 100GB of high speed data for $120/mo. It’s what I use at my house.

I had a friend who used a signal booster for his cell phone... might be a route to look at.

Re: Satellite boosting help
Josh, what is the difference between this and a satellite? Because neither are on a "hard cable" right?
Also, would what you are suggesting be called a "hot spot"?

Re: Satellite boosting help
An AT&T cell phone only has to reach a tower a few miles away. Satellite Internet has to reach a satellite 22,000 miles away. So satellite Internet ends up with delays that aren’t acceptable for phone calls / video calls.
I use AT&T wireless home Internet. It costs $120/mo plus a few dollars of tax.

another question....
I am guessing one would need to have a cell phone contract with AT and T in order to use the antennae idea?
meaning...I could not just use the antennae with any cell phone service?
so, if I go out and find a signal with my husband's phone (we have a Walmart type deal on a monthly card) it would not be the same as me finding a signal with the AT and T phone? yes?

You can get Internet service from any cell phone provider. I have AT&T for wireless Internet because it’s the cheapest and easiest. My wife’s cell phone is Verizon.violet wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 6:10 pm another question....

AT&T has a coverage map on their website and they also have a return period (I think it’s 14 days), so you could try it, and if it doesn’t work, return it.
You can connect to it with either Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. The latter may be a good idea if you have to put the device in your attic, shop, etc to get a good signal.
Other providers like Verizon have similar equipment - it just costs a lot more per month to get 100GB of data.

Re: Satellite boosting help
According to the map, I am in 4GLTE.
but, my zip code covers a large area.
I guess my next step is to walk around the property with the cell phone and see if I get a signal strengthen?
(sorry for all the questions...I am way out of my knowledge zone here)
